Snowboarding/Skiing with the Sony 100-400GM

I’ve always loved my Sony 100-400mm GM but it was only in Saalbach, Austria that I got to full appreciate how good this lens is.

I’d been wanting to get out for a photography session with Snowboarding and Skiing for a while but sadly the Australian conditions aren’t that suitable for it. The Austrian conditions on the other hand were absolutely perfect.

We had a couple of days of sunshine and midway up one of the lifts provided a perfect sky/snow backdrop with fresh powder and beautiful blue skies.

I had the opportunity to test both the new Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN and Sony 100-400mm and the longer focal length definition worked better. I wanted to get out to a snowpark with sliders but unfortunately we didn’t have any nearby.

If you get the chance to head out to any skiing/snowboarding locations, I’d recommend taking the camera along.

I should be back to blogging again after a short break for the Christmas holidays. Hope everyone had a great start to the new year. I’ll also have some more reviews coming through with Shotkit.com that I’ll be posting here.
